Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect learning which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
